A. Answer the following
questions briefly.

1. Why were the people given a day off by
their king?

Ans. Because there was going to be a big
parade in the city.So the king gave all the people the day off to go to see it.

2. What prevented the gardener from going to
the parade?

Ans. The gardener had to
water the plants in the king’s garden.This work prevented the gardener from
going to the parade.

3. Whose help did the gardener plan to take?

Ans. The gardener planned to
take the help of monkeys.

4. How did the monkeys spend their time in
the king’s garden?

Ans. The monkeys spend their
time in the king’s garden by eating nuts & fruits.They plays in garden and
spend their time happily.

5. What were the gardener’s instructions to
water the trees?

Ans. The gardener instructed
the monkeys to water the trees when the sun is going down.Water enough water
but not too much.

6. How did the big monkey instruct the little
monkey to water the trees?

Ans. The big monkey instructed
the little monkeys
 Pull up each tree and look at its roots.If the
tree has long roots, give it much water. If the roots are not long, give it
just a little water.

7. Did the little monkey follow the big
monkey’s instructions? Why?

Ans. Yes the little monkey followed
the big monkey’s instructions because they thought the big monkey was wise.

8. What sight greeted the gardener the next
morning?

Ans. The next morning the gardener saw that every tree had
been pulled up by the roots. And not a tree was living ! Not one!
