I. Look at the picture and answer the following questions

Ans. – Tom Sawyer is lying down in the picture

Ans. – Sid and Mary are the two children standing nearby.

II. Answer the following questions :
1. Why didn’t Tom complain about his loose tooth?
Ans. – Because if Tom complained about his loose tooth,his aunt would pull it out.
2. What did Sid advise Tom when he was groaning?
Ans. – When Tom was groaning, Sid advised him to call Aunt Polly, thinking that Tom might be seriously ill.
3. Why did Aunt Polly not believe Tom?
Ans. Aunt Polly initially didn’t believe Tom because she thought he was faking an illness to skip school.
4. Why did Aunt Polly call Tom a bad boy?
Ans. – Aunt Polly called Tom a bad boy because she believed he was pretending to be sick to avoid going to school.

Ans. – Aunt Polly pulled out Tom’s loose tooth by tying a silk thread to it and attaching the other end to the bed-post. She then used a hot piece of coal to make the tooth come loose, and it ended up hanging by the thread from the bed-post.
