Republic Day Anchoring Script
Ideal for School Assemblies
– Lala Lajpat Rai
Good morning to our visionary Principal, our distinguished Chief Guest, respected teachers, supportive parents, and my vibrant students.
I am your host for today, and it is a moment of profound joy to welcome you to celebrate India’s 77th Republic Day this 26th of January, 2026.
Today, we stand together not just to wave a flag, but to honor the day our nation officially transformed into a sovereign republic, guided by the values of justice, liberty, and equality.
The Tricolor is the soul of our nation, a symbol of our collective sacrifice and hope. As the poet says:
“Vijayi Vishwa Tiranga Pyara, Jhanda Uncha Rahe Hamara!”
I request the entire assembly to prepare for the honors.
I now most respectfully invite our Honourable Chief Guest and our Principal to the hoisting stage to unfurl the National Flag.
(Flag is unfurled)
Host: Please remain standing in salutation and join our voices with pride as the school band plays our National Anthem.
(National Anthem Plays – Jan Gan Man…)
In our rich heritage, we live by this principle—treating our guests as the divine. We are truly honored to have you grace this significant occasion.
To mark this auspicious beginning, I invite our dignitaries for the traditional Lamp Lighting (Deep Prajwalan).
“Tamaso Ma Jyotirgamaya”
As we light this flame, let it represent the dispelling of the darkness of ignorance and the triumph of knowledge and constitutional wisdom. May this light guide our youth toward a brighter and more unified future.
While August 15, 1947, marked our hard-won liberation from 200 years of British rule, the journey toward a truly self-governed nation was completed on January 26, 1950.
This specific date was chosen to honor the “Poorna Swaraj Day” first proclaimed by the Indian National Congress in 1930.
We owe this monumental document to the Drafting Committee led by the “Architect of the Indian Constitution,” Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. It took exactly 2 years, 11 months, and 18 days of rigorous debate to prepare the world’s largest written constitution.
This sacred text replaced the Government of India Act (1935) and established a government “of the people, by the people, and for the people,” ensuring equal rights for every citizen.
whatever freedom is provided by the law is of no avail to you.”
– Dr. B.R. Ambedkar
To share their perspectives on these profound values of freedom and law, I invite our student speakers to the stage. Let us welcome them with a warm round of applause!
— [Transition to Dance] —
From the power of words to the vibrancy of movement—India is a land of breathtaking cultural diversity.
“Where words fail, music speaks, and where music fails, dance expresses.”
To celebrate this unity, our students have prepared a fusion dance inspired by the classical and folk forms of our various regions. Let their energy and rhythm remind us of the perfect harmony that defines our Republic!
As we conclude this magnificent celebration, I offer a sincere Vote of Thanks.
We are deeply grateful to our Chief Guest for sparing time from your busy schedule to inspire our students. Thank you to our Principal, our hardworking staff, and every participant who made this 77th Republic Day a grand success.
to uphold the pillars of our Constitution in our daily lives.”
