Guru Purnima Anchoring Script-2

“The Eternal Bond: Honoring Our Mentors”

1. Grand Welcome and Introduction

(The anchors walk onto the stage with warm smiles.)

Anchor 1: “A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind, and touches a heart.” A very pleasant morning to our respected Principal, honorable Chief Guest, devoted teachers, dear parents, and my fellow friends. A warm and heartfelt welcome to one and all.

Anchor 2: Today, we have gathered here to celebrate Guru Purnima, a highly sacred day to honor our teachers and express our love, gratitude, and respect for their boundless guidance and wisdom.

Anchor 1: Our teachers do not just teach us lessons from textbooks; they inspire us to dream, learn, and become better human beings. Let us begin this beautiful celebration with immense gratitude in our hearts.

2. Serene Start: Meditation and Lamp Lighting

Anchor 2: To kick off our celebration and calm our minds, let us start with a brief moment of silence. Even a few minutes of meditation helps us reflect on our learnings and feel deeply grateful for the guidance we receive.

(Pause for 1 minute of silence)

Anchor 1: Thank you. Now, let us seek the blessings of the Almighty through the traditional lamp lighting ceremony. May I respectfully invite our Honorable Chief Guest, Respected Principal, and distinguished dignitaries to kindly come forward and light the ceremonial lamp?

Anchor 2: As the lamp is being lit, let us reflect on these beautiful words: “A single lamp can light a thousand lamps without losing its own light. Knowledge grows when it is shared.” The lighting of the lamp symbolizes the victory of knowledge over ignorance and wisdom over fear.

3. Saraswati Vandana

Anchor 1: Every auspicious beginning is incomplete without seeking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, wisdom, music, and learning.

Anchor 2: We pray that she blesses us with the confidence and strength to always walk on the path of truth. I respectfully invite our school choir to present the Saraswati Vandana.

(After the performance)

Anchor 1: Thank you, dear students, for that graceful and devotional performance. Your beautiful presentation has truly filled this atmosphere with peace and positivity.

4. The Significance of Guru Purnima & The Gratitude Wall

Anchor 2: For those wondering why this day is so special, Guru Purnima is celebrated in honor of Maharishi Vyasa, the great sage who compiled the Vedas and wrote the Mahabharata. This is why this day is also known as Vyasa Purnima.

Anchor 1: A guru is the one who removes the darkness of ignorance and fills our lives with the light of knowledge. To show our appreciation this year, our students have created a special Gratitude Wall.

Anchor 2: Yes! If you walk down the hallway today, you will see a collective expression of thankfulness with little notes from students saying things like, “You never gave up on me,” and “You made maths fun.” It beautifully reflects the true spirit of today’s celebration.

5. Honoring Our First Teachers: Parents

Anchor 1: While we celebrate our school teachers, we must also recognize that learning does not begin in classrooms; it begins at home.

Anchor 2: Absolutely. Parents are every child’s first teacher. Honoring our parents during this celebration reminds us that education is a lifelong journey. Let us give a huge round of applause to all the parents present here today for building the foundation of our learning.

6. Cultural Performance

Anchor 1: Every celebration becomes more joyful with music, dance, and creativity. Our talented students are now ready to present a special cultural performance dedicated to the guru-shishya bond.

Anchor 2: As it is rightly said, “Where words fail, music and dance speak from the heart.” Let us welcome our talented performers with a big round of applause!

(After the performance)

Anchor 1: What a wonderful performance! Your energy, talent, and dedication truly made this celebration even more special.

7. Felicitation of Teachers & Principal’s Address

Anchor 2: “Teaching is the one profession that creates all other professions.” Every doctor, engineer, scientist, artist, and leader begins their journey with the guidance of a teacher.

Anchor 1: Today, we proudly honor those who have made a difference in our lives. May I request our respected Principal and honorable Chief Guest to kindly felicitate our beloved teachers as a token of our love, respect, and gratitude.

(Felicitation takes place)

Anchor 2: Now, we invite our visionary leader, our Respected Principal, to address the gathering. Sir/Ma’am, the best leaders inspire us to learn, grow, and become the best version of ourselves. We kindly request you to share your inspiring message with us.

8. Formal Vote of Thanks

Anchor 1: As we near the end of our program, it is time to formally express our gratitude. “Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others,” as the great philosopher Cicero once said.

Anchor 2: I would like to invite [Student Name] to deliver the Vote of Thanks.

Speaker: “A very good morning to all. On behalf of all students and staff, I am glad to be standing here to express my vote of thanks. A special thanks to our Chief Guest for accepting our invitation and being here with us today. I thank our Principal for always supporting and guiding us. Our teachers, the superstars of today, always put in a lot of effort and love into making each one of us good students and wonderful human beings. You have always been generous with your time. I would also like to thank the non-teaching staff, volunteers, and my fellow students who have made this day possible. Thank you one and all.”

9. Conclusion & National Anthem

Anchor 1: Thank you for those wonderful words. Before we conclude, let us remember that a good teacher teaches, but a great teacher inspires. We promise to uphold the lessons you have taught us, not just in classrooms, but in life.

Anchor 2: Now, as a mark of respect for our great nation, because unity, respect, and patriotism make a nation strong, I request everyone to kindly rise for the National Anthem.

(National Anthem is played)

Anchor 1 & Anchor 2 Together: Thank you everyone for your presence and enthusiastic participation. We wish you all a very Happy Guru Purnima! Jai Hind!
