Guru Purnima Anchoring Script-3

A Complete Guru Purnima Anchoring Script

1. A Serene Beginning & Welcome

(The event can begin with a few minutes of group meditation or silence to help students calm their minds and reflect on the guidance they receive.)

Anchor 1: “A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind, and touches a heart.” A very pleasant morning to our honorable Chief Guest, respected Principal, devoted teachers, parents, and my dear friends.

Anchor 2: Today, we gather here for a very meaningful occasion—Guru Purnima. It is a special day dedicated to honoring and thanking our teachers, mentors, and guides who shape our learning, character, and future. Let us begin this beautiful celebration with gratitude in our hearts.

2. Lamp Lighting Ceremony & Saraswati Vandana

Anchor 1: Every auspicious beginning starts with seeking the blessings of the Almighty. I respectfully invite our honorable Chief Guest, respected Principal, and distinguished dignitaries to kindly come forward to light the ceremonial lamp.

Anchor 2: As they light the lamp, let us reflect on these beautiful words: “A single lamp can light a thousand lamps without losing its own light. Knowledge grows when it is shared.”

Anchor 1: Now, let us seek the blessings of Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, wisdom, and learning, with a beautiful Saraswati Vandana presented by our school choir.

(After the performance)

Anchor 1: Thank you, dear students, for that graceful and devotional performance.

3. Significance of Guru Purnima & The Day’s Theme

Anchor 2: Guru Purnima is celebrated on the full moon day, or Purnima, in the Hindu month of Ashadha. It proudly marks the birth anniversary of Sage Vyasa, one of the greatest gurus in Indian history who compiled the Vedas. Because of this, the day is also known as Vyasa Purnima.

Anchor 1: Today, we have chosen a beautiful theme for our celebration: “With a Guru, Every Path is Clear”. A guru is more than just a teacher; they are mentors who guide us through confusion, fears, and failures. Today is our chance to pause and say to them, “Thank you for believing in me”.

4. Principal’s Address

Anchor 2: Every successful institution is guided by a visionary leader. The best leaders inspire us to learn, grow, and become the best version of ourselves.

Anchor 1: It is now our privilege to invite our respected Principal to address the gathering and share a few inspiring words with us. Please welcome them with a big round of applause!

5. Student Speeches: Stories of Great Gurus & Honoring Parents

Anchor 2: What better day than today to remember the greatest student-teacher bonds in history? I now invite [Student Name] to deliver a speech sharing the inspiring stories of famous gurus, such as the bond between Swami Vivekananda and his mentor Ramakrishna Paramhansa, and the legacy of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

(After the speech)

Anchor 1: Thank you for those wonderful words. Before we move forward, we must also acknowledge that learning begins at home. Parents are every child’s first teacher, and honoring them today reminds us that education is a lifelong journey. We extend our deepest respect to all the parents present here today.

6. Cultural Performance & Playful Teacher Awards

Anchor 2: Where words fail, music and dance speak from the heart. There is nothing more heartwarming than students performing for their favorite teachers. Let’s welcome our cultural team for a special performance dedicated to the guru-shishya bond!

(After the performance)

Anchor 1: What a wonderful and energetic tribute! Now, we have a very special and fun segment. To celebrate our teachers with love, our students have prepared some playful awards.

Anchor 2: We will now be honoring our amazing educators with titles like ‘The Best Motivator’, ‘Most Patient Teacher’, and ‘Creative Classroom Leader’ to show them just how much they are loved and remembered!

(Call out names and hand out the fun badges/awards).

7. Felicitation of Teachers & Guru Appreciation

Anchor 1: Teaching is the one profession that creates all other professions. Every doctor, engineer, artist, and leader begins their journey with the guidance of a teacher.

Anchor 2: I now request our respected Principal and honorable Chief Guest to formally felicitate our beloved teachers as a token of our love, respect, and gratitude. A good teacher teaches, but a great teacher inspires. Thank you, teachers, for your unconditional support.

8. Vote of Thanks

Anchor 1: As the famous philosopher Cicero said, “Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.” I now invite [Name] to propose the formal vote of thanks.

Speaker: “A very good morning to all. On behalf of all students and staff, I am glad to stand here to express my vote of thanks. A special thanks to our Chief Guest for accepting our invitation and being here with us today. I thank our Principal for always supporting and guiding us. Our teachers, the superstars of today, put immense effort into making us wonderful human beings; thank you for always being generous with your time. I also extend my sincere appreciation to the non-teaching staff, coordinators, and volunteers who worked behind the scenes. Finally, thank you to all the parents and students for making this event a grand success. Thank you, one and all.”

9. Conclusion & National Anthem

Anchor 2: As we wind down, let’s remember that today is not just about performances or gifts; it is about carrying forward the values our mentors instill in us—patience, humility, and the hunger to learn.

Anchor 1: Let us uphold the lessons learned not just in classrooms, but in life. I now request everyone to kindly rise and maintain silence for our National Anthem.

(National Anthem plays)

Anchor 2: Thank you everyone for your enthusiastic participation. We wish you all a very Happy Guru Purnima! Jai Hind!
